ALFRED HITCHCOCK: ANTI-SOCIAL REGISTER
YES, I do have an itty bitty chip on my shoulder. I find the 'establishment' and 1% that controls 99% of the money repulsive and don't know how they live with themselves feeling so 'precious' in comparison to others. I hated growing up around unimaginative pale pink preppies that didn't have a clue. Needless to say, there's a reason why boys from the Upper East move to Avenue C and get tattooes. At the same time I want a Cartier watch to wear on my tattooed arm and would like to be with a guy that says "I did well" and not "I did good". I'm most certainly confused. I thought that buying this antique book on ebay of 14 short stories introduced by Alfred Hitchcock might help clear some things up for me, as the movie "Rope" didn't quite entirely hit the spot. I would love to write a scandalous partially fictional story about murder on the Upper East Side. I don't know that I have the focus. God help them if I ever do. It would make Louis Auchincloss books look like love letters as I remember every crummy minutia of exposure I had to the whole lot of them on the Upper East. One of the short stories in Al's book is entitled "The Affair Upstairs", but I'm most excited to read another story in the book entitled "I'm better than you". I wonder why Alfred only included 12 stories, not 13. I mean how much MORE cursed can a book on murder and society be?
KENNY KENNY ON DISPLAY AT NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM!
I went to the Natural History Museum today in hopes of being revitalized touching the large quartz crystals and meteorites in their rocks and mineral section, but left feeling drained and a little fearful.
First of all, the museum is a rotten mess and it's the only museum I always feel like I'm going to get mugged in. It smells of mold. All the glass on the displays are smeared with human grease, everything is crumbling and everything carpeted is frayed and stained. The Metropolitan wouldn't be caught stuffed and dead looking like the Natural History Museum.
However, when i went to the information booth for directions, the crones at the desk told me that Kenny Kenny (the ominous door queen that charged me $5- at Love Machine as a child) was now a national treasure and on display in their recent acquisitions section!
I was surprised to see him in action and he was so surprised to see me that he dropped his guest list (image on the left). He then proceeded to read me, as usual, waving a dagger and shaking his finger in my face (image on the right).

SEQUIN SNEAKER MADNESS $20- EACH IN EVERY COLOR @ PATRICIA FIELD!
So long as I'm on a footwear roll in my blog I MUST mention that at Patricia Field there are sequin sneakers in every color (including gold, silver and copper tones) for, YES not a typo: $20-
I bought a black pair and a gold pair but i might pop back in for an electric blue pair.
They have them in clear colored plastic as well, but all I can picture is summer foot sweat on high display which I don't really fancy.
I wore mine while browsing at some of these tricked out homeboy sneaker stores around Lafayette street and all the sales peoples eyes were glued to them. $20-!
Note: Don't wear them on the stair stepper or elliptical at the gym. I did today and it warped/bent some of the sequins where your foot creases. It bugged me.

GINORMOUS CUBIC ZIRCONIAS / ARMEN-RA JEWELS
I found a 300+ faceted zircon in the middle of Southern India years ago for a very good price! The labor put into having so many facets must have been truly inhuman. It was the 1990's and Armen-Ra was producing coffee table sized cubic zirconias for Todd Oldham in rectangular and pear shapes set in sterling. I believe Susan Sarandon had one and I remember hearing rumors of models stealing them backstage at the show.
Armen-Ra was flexible and kind enough to have my stone from India mounted in sterling at that time. He currently corresponded to me that "(he has) commissioned another very large pear shape 97kt. stone to be made into a 'modern' ring... This is the absolute last remaining stone..."
Years after my ring was made, some friends of my mothers from New Orleans gave me a large matching pendant on a sterling necklace. It's gorgeous but not as intricate as the stone in the ring. They have a wonderful jewelry store in New Orleans: http://neworleansgem.qpg.com (ask for Allen & say you're my friend).
I was sorting out old costume jewelry of mine the other day and came across the ring and pendant. I broke out the silver polish, brought them back to life and wore them out last night and felt positively delightful. They are hard to photograph because of the way they catch the light. BLUE PILL & SKULL HEAD QUEEN
I injected myself for the first time friday. I have to once a week for 11 months. I don't mind it. Plus, I have to take this day glo little blue pill (ribaviron) 2x a day. The possibility of a barrage of side effects is very real and is supposed to happen in the very beginning, but I feel fine. I'm hoping on the weight loss possibility. This blog isn't going to be a place for complaints anyway. I pay people to listen to that. Besides, "Girls should come in looking happy and healthy. Nobody likes a complainer. If someone asks how you are, don't tell them you are awful because they really don't want to know" -Eileen Ford in "Paris Is Burning"

NEW M14 / THE DOUBLE DUTCH BUS
Click above for official information.
Brought to you by the graphic artists behind 31 Flavors & cement mixing trucks in hearty crappy mashed bus seat velour.
You can tell it's one of the blue dot special busses because there are erratic blue landing lights that flash hypnotically in the upper corners of the bus (see first picture).
All the standard classic accessories like the yellow "push to request stop" strip and "keep arm in" plaque are the same, but they really shine against the blue. The black and white speckle floor all of a sudden seems to take on a classic composition notebook classic quality which I didn't appreciate so much before.
If you are pale like me, blue is the best backdrop. Red can be chancy and there is nothing worse than a queen in green.
Unfortunately, by the end of my ride, the textile was making me totally sick.
It did, however, create a great reason to wear solids.
I recently mentioned the M14 to some tedious girl who wouldn't stop asking me "what I did" at a party and she didn't know what it was. I told her it was a bus. She got cab snobby and I told her that busses were more green. She didn't know what green was. I looked down and she had her she had her shoes off (& it wasn't a party at someone's apt) and she had hammer toes. Sorry, thought I'd share the taste of stale milk with you that was my meeting her acquaintance. R

MRS. BABS HUNTER REAVIS SNEAK PREVIEW No.1
My mothers mother, Babs Hunter Reavis, 1892-1981, was truly a New York grande dame. They named my first name, Reavis, after my mom's maiden name. Towards the end of her life, Babs lived alone in a crumbling townhouse on 80th st. between 5th and Madison (except for a Chinese butler and family who lived in a room behind the kitchen). When she died at the time unfortunately "novea pauvre", we sold the house. It has since been completely renovated inside restoring it's full beauty and at one point belonged to Lucille Roberts whom I had mail correspondence with. I don't know who owns it now, but walking past it on the way to the met a couple of years ago a rather tweedy gentleman was coming out and i gawked in and he was at first horrified but then struck up some short chat with me (then I went the met and paid a quarter). In Babs last days she could be seen walking her viscous dachshund along 5th Avenue in her signature cobalt blue tinted pointy black sunglasses, a real leopard skin coat and matching purse and a cigarette holder clenched in in her teeth. I still have one of her less ornate cigarette holders replete with teeth gashes, as well as other Babs memorabilia. There is a huge amount of information on her at my Dad's house, including society newspaper clippings, extra marital affair love letters, an enormous oil painting of her in pearls and a yellow Balenciaga gown circa 1940's, an enormous bronze bust (that's the head, you know), as well as all sorts of strange things we've kept in a gigantic scrap book. We still have all 5 or so of her original Fortuny gowns at my mothers with original hand painted and bejeweled Fortuny belts. She was a bit loopy toward the end as well as a very tiny lady and she hacked off the bottom of a couple of Fortuny gowns (as well as gold spray painted every antique in the house within reach of her small height towards the end of her life). The photo below was taken in the autumn of the late 60's or early 70's by my dad at 'The Creek Club' with a Leica. She ALWAYS had some special scotch to drink (she would abusively berate waiters that brought the wrong one) as well as poland spring water w/out ice at all times. She died in 1981 on New Years Eve (the butler found her). The story goes that she was walking back and forth from the bed which had folded clothes on it to her Louis Vuitton steamer trunk for her annual trip on the QE (or QE II?) and tripped and fell and died. Her gargantuan marquis diamond ring was never found.
I plan on having a Babs Memorabilia Web Event complete with movie clippings, hair clippings and intimate imagery as soon as i can comb over them at some point this summer. I will keep you posted.

REAVIS AS WITCHIEPOO
A getup for a Suzanne Barsch Halloween a few years ago. Pre Mac Store glass suspension staircase courtesy of legend Dr. Rob Levy. For some reason at some point I included a picture of myself in a suit at the River Club overlooking The East River. Drags looks achieved with Makeup forever green and lashes top and bottom. I glued green swarovskis and sequins to the nose. When I got to the party i ran into Sushi who had a little red clown nose on entirely pave'd with red swarovskis. He got in my face with it and said, "MY jewels on MY nose are ALL REAL" to which i said "Yes, that's because you're a REAL CLOWN!" :-> R
CIRCA LATE 60'S SAILING
Apparently it seems that most of the fun was before I was born! My mom (redhead) and dad (only shot of him is with her with the american flag rolled up) are pictured sailing here with their friends. My mom had those 70's coke bottle glasses until she started wearing hard contact lenses. They look similar to Bette Davis' in "I wish you love", below. I actually have the glasses for some odd reason and have considered making coasters out of the lenses. Unfortunately, coasters are fussy. Don't bug your guests about sparing your 'fine wood'. Put glass over it and leave them alone you loser! R
