EQUICHECKPOINT

I just ended my membership with this gym (not because of this, but because I'm over their stainless steel touch), but they have had a history for over a year of these locker clipping thefts in several clubs. I was in 2 locations that had after-crime scene cop activity and it was very weird to change around in the locker room let me tell you. I love this letter though. It's not worth reading all of, but should I carry mace to the most expensive gym in Manhattan? So whacked.

Dear Reavis,

In September, we sent out a communication regarding health club locker room theft activity. Over the past several days we've had a couple of thefts in both the women's and men's locker rooms. We're cooperating with the NYPD as they investigate these incidents.

We want to remind you again to safeguard your belongings and we recommend the following:
Leave your valuable personal items at home or use a keyed mini-locker in the locker rooms
If you bring valuables to the club, keep them with you when you work out
Do not leave property or personal items in unlocked lockers
Use a heavy duty, sturdy lock, such as the Sesamee brand available in the Shop
Locks such as standard 'high school' style Master Locks are not effective
Equinox takes this very seriously and we have taken the following steps to protect our members:
Informing our members when an incident takes place
Educating our members on ways to protect themselves
We've recently installed security cameras in the club
Photo copying ID's of all guests who enter our clubs
Only allowing entry into the club with a member ID or photo ID
We've added warnings to individual lockers
While these incidents are rare, we are working to ensure you experience a safe and secure workout. If you have any questions, please contact the General Manager.

In Good Health,

Chief Operating Officer
